Blood Relations (Family Tree & Coded)

Master this topic with zero to advance depth.

Fundamentals of Family Tree

Blood relations require mapping people onto a 'Family Tree'. The tree establishes two critical attributes: Gender and Generation.

Generational Ladder

Generation +2: Grandfather, Grandmother.
Generation +1: Father, Mother, Uncle, Aunt, Father-in-law, Mother-in-law.
Generation 0: Self, Brother, Sister, Cousin, Husband, Wife, Brother-in-law, Sister-in-law.
Generation -1: Son, Daughter, Nephew, Niece, Son-in-law, Daughter-in-law.
Generation -2: Grandson, Granddaughter.

Coded Blood Relations (Mains Level)

In coded relations, symbols represent relationships (e.g., A @ B means A is the father of B).

Exam Attack:
1. Gender Check: First eliminate options where the requested person's gender is wrong. If you need 'Uncle' (Male), but the equation ends with the person having a 'Mother' (*) symbol, eliminate it immediately.
2. Generation Gap Check: Assign values (+1 for parent, -1 for child, 0 for sibling/spouse). If you need an Uncle (+1 gap), the net value of the equation must equal +1.
